The Triangle is a close knit community with southern charm- it is the heartbeat of North Carolina. Raleigh is known as the City of Oaks” for its many oak trees, which line the streets in the heart of the city. Raleigh/Durham is home of the North Carolina National Guard Joint Force Headquarters and over 100,000 Veterans—and counting. As a state, North Carolina’s veteran population has reached 800,000 and over 35% of North Carolina’s population identifies as military, veteran, spouse, parent, or dependent of someone serving in the military. In October 2016, the Fayetteville area was added to what was formally NCServes Raleigh/Durham. Home to one of the largest military installations in the world, Fort Bragg, the inclusion of the Fayetteville area increased the reach of the network and made the newly formed NCServes RDU/Fayetteville. Then in November 2017, the network again made an expansion into the Triad area. With over 10% of cases coming from this out of network” area, moving into the Triad was an important step to establish a continuum of care for veterans and their families in the central portion of the state. With the expansion, the network became NCServes Central Carolina. USO of NC, the Coordination Center for NCServes – Central Carolina brings together 60+ service providers across 17 counties, including Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Harnett, Johnson, Lee, Orange, Wake, Moore, Cumberland, Forsyth, Guilford, Davidson, Davie, Surry, Stokes, and Randolph counties.
